A MAN known for his positivity and passion for the region– North East England Chamber of Commerce chief executive James Ramsbotham has been awarded a CBE.
At the head of the Chamber for 12 years, he has transformed its position in the region’s business community through initiatives such as the creation of the President’s Club, a network of employers such as Nissan, CYBG and Greggs. It has campaigned for investment in the transport network, promoted the region's global connectivity and given a voice to businesses regionally, nationally and internationally on issues such as Brexit.
Mr Ramsbotham said: “This Honour is really for the whole team at the Chamber who do so much for North East businesses each and every day. I am over-the-moon that our work has been recognised in this way and I feel very honoured and humbled.”
Mr Ramsbotham previously had a military career and director-level experience with Barclays Bank and construction firm Esh Group.
He holds various senior voluntary roles and is a Deputy Lieutenant for County Durham.
