ENGINEERING firm Day and Zimmerman has been awarded a five-year contract with Teesside industrial utilities provider SembCorp Utilities UK.

The deal, worth an undisclosed sum, will mean the firm takes important engineering services to support SembCorp's capital projects at its Wilton International, North Tees and Billingham facilities.

A Day and Zimmermann team will be based on the Wilton site and at the firm's regional office at the Belasis Hall Technology Park, in Billingham.

The deal is the latest contract win for Day and Zimmerman during the past 12 months.

In addition to its work for Invista, the company has also undertaken assignments for the Centre for Process Innovation, Dynea, Artenius, Simon Storage, Huntsman Tioxide and Sabic.

Richard Brady, director of business development for Day and Zimmermann, said: "Success breeds success, so we are also confident that we will continue to grow in the region in line with our business plan, leading to more new customers and employment opportunities."

Tom Davidson, senior vice- president of the technology group at SembCorp, said: "We have been impressed with the Day and Zimmermann team, its approach and operating procedures and its commitment to delivery.

"The services it provides will be of major importance in the coming months and years as SembCorp undertakes to satisfy the growing demand for utilities associated with the major investments under way in our Teesside facilities."

Day and Zimmermann, which has its headquarters in the US, is a member of the Tees Valley Engineering Partnership (TVEP) and opened its Billingham office in July last year.

Malcolm Potter, TVEP manager, said: "Day and Zimmerman plays a huge role in the Tees Valley's engineering sector."
