IT solutions and support provider IT Professional Services (ITPS) is providing energy efficiency company Eaga with the latest in energy-saving server and data storage technology.

Gateshead-based ITPS is helping Eaga with its energy conservation efforts by updating its information and communication technology infrastructure.

Eaga, based in Newcastle, is the UK's leading residential energy efficiency solutions provider, and is constantly looking for new ways to help it achieve its goals.

Darren Ankers, infrastructure manager at the plc, said: "Basically, we had a wide range of hardware and operating systems that, although reasonably efficient, were relatively elderly and were not delivering optimum performance and were not future-proofed.

"Now, we have a truly energy-efficient, future-proof and resilient solution that will support the business now and in the future."

ITPS was commissioned to apply its expertise in helping Eaga to review the company's existing infrastructure against a set of key parameters, one of which was energy consumption.

George Galloway, ITPS sales manager, said: "The equipment that we have supplied to Eaga uses up to 24 per cent less energy than that of its nearest competitor.

"By adopting this technology, businesses can now drastically reduce energy consumption and energy- related expenditure - depending on the type of systems deployed in their computer rooms and data centres."
