A former student at Richmond School, in North Yorkshire, who now works as a financial risk assessor, has won an industry award. Derek Spence, whose parents still live in Richmond, has been named risk manager of the year by Credit Today magazine. Mr Spence works for Alliance and Leicester, in Leicester. Simon Baum, the bank's credit and risk director, said Mr Spence was a driving force in key projects.
