AN event to find and nurture the business leaders of tomorrow has been organised.

The three-day entrepreneur academy, the first event of its kind in the region, will take place at Trevelyan College, Durham University, starting on July 9.

Thirty fully-funded places will be available to students from further education colleges in the region. Application details are available at www.entrepreneuracademy.co.uk

The event will focus on exploring the viability of the students' business ideas and allow the delegates to learn from successful business owners and gain an understanding of marketing, business planning and funding.

The Entrepreneur Academy is funded by One NorthEast in partnership with QED Consulting and the Association of Colleges.

Dorothy Kelly, enterprise and business support manager with One NorthEast, said the regional development agency was dedicated to promoting enterprise and helping about 20,000 businesses start up in the region over the next decade.

She said: "One of the ways we will meet that challenge is by inspiring more young people to start a business. The academy is a great way of achieving this."
