A HIGH-TECHNOLOGY optical equipment company in County Durham will market its products globally after breaking into several new markets.

NeoSensors, based at NetPark in Sedgefield, is targeting the UK market as well as Germany, the US and Japan, with its pioneering Iasys resonant mirror optical biosensor technology.

The company's products are being used to help research diseases and drugs worldwide, but NeoSensors is now looking to establish a strong global market position.

The company, with the help of UK Trade and Investment's Virtual Export Manager (VEM) programme, is working with biotechnology expert Dr Walis Jones to identify export opportunities and the most appropriate routes to market.

NeoSensors director Sarfraz Mian said: "The positive feedback we've received from IAsys users proved there was still a demand and we have now re-launched manufacture of the IAsys instrument at Sedgefield."

Dr Jones said: "This project has been tremendously exciting in supporting an innovative company to develop and exploit the commercial opportunities for its unique biosensor technologies."
