TYNESIDE removals firm Quicksilver has completed its multi-million pound expansion programme by installing the latest technology.
The firm, based in Throckley, near Newcastle, has invested £5m in the business in the past five years, and has now equipped its five storage centres and purpose-built headquarters with the latest IP (Internet Protocol) telephony solution.
The technology has been provided by North-East communications company Executel, and has been hailed by family-owned Quicksilver as preparing the business for further expansion.
Derek Jenkins, operations manager for Quicksilver, said: "During our development, we have used local companies and when searching for a communications provider, we wanted a forward-thinking regional company to provide a state-of-the-art solution which would meet the growing needs of the business."
Established in 1985, Quicksilver has rapidly grown to become a leader in removals and storage with about 40,000sq ft of industrial space, a workforce of 40 and a predicted turnover of £2.6m by the end of the year.
