A PORTABLE building firm has secured a £10m contract to work on a hospital renovation.
Portakabin Group, in York, says it will supply two buildings, including a six-storey structure, for the re-development of the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton.
The company says the buildings will be used for clinical services.
It revealed the six-storey structure will be its first of such size in the health sector and will be made in York.
Bosses added it will house services such as physiotherapy and a rehabilitation gym.
It will remain on site until stage one of the hospital redevelopment is finished in 2019.
The second building will provide three levels of ward space, remaining on site until a new cancer centre is completed.
Simon Ambler, Portakabin Group director, said: “This is a highly complex contract, which will involve constructing two buildings with detailed technical specifications, on an extremely constrained and busy hospital site, in a short time frame and simultaneously.
“The clinical building is also our first six-storey scheme in the healthcare sector, which demonstrates the advanced capabilities we offer.”
