TWIN sisters with a burning desire to set up a business together are enjoying a roaring trade in the luxury candle market.
Leanne and Marise Golightly, 33, set up Golightme Candles in 2012, producing their first batch in Leanne’s kitchen in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
Since then, demand for the sisters’ unique and highly scented candles has exploded and their products are now stocked in boutiques and gift shops across the region.
They now make around 2,000 candles a month and host regular candle parties.
Varieties range from the tropically scented Sun Your Buns, to the indulgent Love Love Love and the magical Fairy Wishes.
Marise Golightly said: “We had wanted to set up a business together for years and, as Leanne loves candles, we decided to make our own.
“It took us a while to perfect the candles but now we are delighted with our creations and so happy people like them too.”
Her sister, who now lives in Chilton, added: “I have always loved candles. I am absolutely thrilled the business has taken off.”
