A FAMILY-RUN maintenance company has secured work on an iconic UK structure.
Stone Technical Services, in Darlington, is installing safety features to the dome and tri-forum levels on St Paul's Cathedral, in London.
The company has worked on the building for more than a decade as its lightning protection contractor.
Bosses have also secured contracts from English Heritage to carry out improvements to properties across the North-East, including Brinkburn Priory in Morpeth, Northumberland, and Bessie Surtees House, in Newcastle.
Those contracts include fitting safety equipment and fall arrest systems, which allow repairs to be carried out at high levels and in dangerous locations.
Dave Stone, managing director, said: “Our team has vast experience of working on all terrains and in all weathers; two very important factors due to the locations of many of these stunning structures.”
Stone operates four divisions, which focus on lightning protection, restoration, maintenance, and conservation, working with local authorities, Network Rail, the NHS, Selfridges and the Royal Courts of Justice.
