A LAW firm with four offices in the region is making it easier for people to sue for clinical negligence.
Thompsons Solicitors, which has a presence in Newcastle, Durham, South Shields and Middlesbrough, has introduced a new service to help its clients fund claims against medical injustice.
Thompsons has agreed in certain cases to pay the fee charged by doctors and hospitals to access medical records and experts. The information is vital to show the strength of a case before it can proceed, but can often cost claimants up to £1,200.
Janet Allan, who heads up Thompsons' North-East clinical negligence team, said: "Many people who have injuries through clinical negligence are put off accessing justice because of the need to pay for external medical records and reports.
"We want to ease the financial burden for people who we consider have a strong case."
