A NORTH-EAST recycling plant, which was closed due to poor feedstocks, has re-opened.
Waste management company, Biffa, says its mixed plastics facility at Wilton, near Redcar, will be fully operational by October, and it could create about 30 jobs.
The firm's £4m plant will move lower-value household plastics away from landfill, and bosses have now carried out trials to find a better feedstock after previous products contained too much waste material.
A spokeswoman said: “We have made significant progress with mixed plastics and have re-opened the plant and taken on a new team.
“Following various trials, we have found a suitable feedstock making the plant a viable operation, and will be making substantial investment in new equipment over the summer.
“We will be running full-time from October.”
