THE North East director of the leading employers’ group the CBI is stepping down from her role in the region to take up a national position.
Sarah Green has been promoted to the role of Member Relations Director (Regions and Nations) for the organisation which represents Britain’s leading businesses.
She will remain based in the North East but will also spend time at the CBI’s headquarters in London and its other offices around the UK.
Ms Green, 39, a qualified solicitor, worked around the world for organisations including Clifford Chance and Arthur Anderson Consulting before returning to her native North East. She took up her current position in 2005.
As well as her North East duties, she is also Director of the CBI’s national Leadership Programme which is modelled on the Future Leaders scheme she pioneered in the North East. She is studying for an MBA from Newcastle University Business School.
The mother-of-two, said: “This internal promotion is, in part, a reflection of the reputation of CBI North East which is built upon the fantastic support I have had from North East members. In particular, I would like to thank my chairs – Jamie Martin, Bob Davies, Ken McMeikan and Heidi Mottram for their advice and valuable counsel.
"Whilst the new role will involve considerable time in CBI HQ, Centrepoint, London, and the other 12 CBI regions, being the Geordie homing pigeon I am, at the end of the day I will return back to Newcastle and at every opportunity I will fly the flag for this region and the other UK regions and nations to ensure a strong voice in national policy making.”
