RED Box Design Group, the international architectural practice which recently won an award for the UK's most sustainable schools in County Durham, has been named Best Professional Service Business serving Football at the inaugural Football Business Awards.


Red Box, was recognised by the judges for its role as master planners, architects and interior designers for St George's Park, England's world-class national football training centre.

The judges included; Bruce Buck, chairman of Chelsea FC, Bob Wilson, former Scotland and Arsenal goalkeeper and broadcaster and Tom Glick, chief commercial and operating officer of Manchester City.


Alan Smith OBE, DL, chairman of Red Box Design Group, said: "To be chosen as the firm to bring St George's Park to life and then to be awarded for our planning, architectural and interior design work on this project is fantastic, it's the architects' equivalent of scoring a hat trick in the world cup final."

As well as completing work on sustainable schools in Brandon and Esh Winning, the company has completed projects throughout the County Durham area including; Clements Wharf residential area, the Radisson Blu hotel and Bannatynes Leisure.


Red Box Design Group is involved in projects for clients including Sunderland AFC, Newcastle and Sunderland Colleges, the Eagles basketball team, Bolton Wanderers FC, as well as International projects in China and Uganda.
