GUSTAVO POYET thinks Sunderland have every reason to be optimistic despite seeing his players fail to win in the Premier League for the sixth time this season.
The Black Cats, who have only lost one so far, drew for the fifth time after failing to score against Swansea City at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Swansea, who had defender Angel Rangel sent off in the last ten minutes, were fortunate to end up with a point but Sunderland were toothless once more in the final third.
Rather than be annoyed with an inability to find the net, however, Poyet believes it is a matter of time before Sunderland win with a visit of Stoke City next on the agenda next Saturday.
Poyet said: "If I look from the point of view, of the position in the league, the points we have got, and where we want to be, yes it was frustrating.
"If I look at it from the point of view of training, preparing for the game, the way we played and chances we created then I should be alright. I’m not saying I’m happy because we didn’t win.
"But we stopped Swansea from playing, we played a bit higher up the pitch, we had pace and we put plenty of balls in the box, created chances ... we just need the goals.
"It depends on how you look at it. I need to prepare this team for the whole year and to get better. As a manager or as a coach this is the way. I am happy."
