Chris Burton lost in the final round of the Prizefighter final, after being stopped by Norwich's Sam Sexton.
The referee stepped in after 2:10 of the third, after an even first two rounds. Burton was in the corner with heavy shots raining in.
After the stoppage, Burton held his hands up to suggest he could have continued - but he had suffered a series of blows.
Burton, however, can hold his head high after a terrific display. He saw off outsider Dave Ingleby comfortably, and put down the dangerous Lee Swaby en route to a semi final points win.
He takes home £12,000, and invaluable experience - but the first loss of his professional career. His record now reads won 13, lost one.
