MATZ SELS has left Newcastle United to join French club Strasbourg.
Sels leaves Tyneside for a fee that is understood to be around £3.5m, having joined Newcastle in a £6m move from Gent two summers ago.
The goalkeeper made a total of 14 senior appearances for the Magpies, which all came in his first season at the club.
The Belgium international spent the whole of last season on loan at Anderlecht, where he won the Belgian Super Cup.
He featured in Newcastle’s 2-0 pre-season win over St. Patrick’s Athletic last week, but has now completed a permanent switch to Strasbourg's Stade de la Meinau.
