AFTER our polls to select the best-ever XI of Darlington and Newcastle United, The Northern Echo is giving supporters of the North-East’s other leading teams the chance to choose their own club’s greatest all-time line-up.
This week, it is the turn of Middlesbrough. Boro boasted some legendary names during the 20th century, many played for England and other countries, and more recently there were players who went onto win a first major cup final in 2004 as well as reach the UEFA Cup final in 2006.
Who deserves a place in the club’s greatest line-up? We have selected a shortlist of goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards – and want you to pick a team in a 4-3-3 formation.
Voting closes on Thursday, July 6, and the winning team will be published in next Saturday’s The Northern Echo – along with the shortlist for Sunderland's all-time greatest XI.
