Frickley Athletic 2 Darlington 3
TWO goals by defender Gary Brown helped give Darlington a 3-2 win at Frickley last night in the Integro Doodson League Cup.
Manager Martin Gray made ten changes and gave a run-out to several teenagers, including his 16-year-old son Jonty as a substitute, as Darlington reached the last 16 of the competition.
Frickley took an early lead from the penalty spot through Zeph Thomas, awarded after an Adam Nowakowski foul, before Quakers levelled when David Dowson fired beyond goalkeeper Peter Fotko from the edge of the penalty area.
And Darlington were 3-1 up at the break thanks two goals after corners, Brown, one of ten changes, forcing home loose balls on each occasion.
The only of the second period came in the final minute by Frickley’s Tom Davie to reduce the arrears, but it was not enough to prevent Quakers progressing.
