SUNDERLAND have recalled Connor Wickham from his loan spell at Leeds United - and the striker is available to go straight into the squad for Wednesday's trip to Liverpool.
The Black Cats triggered their immediate recall option this morning, with Wickham expected to train with the rest of the squad later today.
The 20-year-old joined Leeds on loan in February, and failed to score in his five appearances for the Elland Road club.
However, he claimed eight goals in 11 appearances during a previous loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday this term.
Sunderland's decision to recall Wickham has been influenced by Fabio Borini's ineligibility for Wednesday's game as he is on a season-long loan from Liverpool.
Poyet's thinking is also likely to have been influenced by the unavailbility of the injured Steven Fletcher and the poor recent form of Jozy Altidore, who has not scored since the start of December.
