A GROUP of pupils are going on a volunteering trip to Sri Lanka to help out at a preschool.
Staff from Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG) donated £350 to help the group of 18 young people, from Eston Park School, in Middlesbrough, fund the trip to Athidiya.
The donation will be put towards travelling and accommodation expenses for the students, who will be involved in teaching and refurbishing classrooms.
Headteacher Jim Rogers said: "Our aim is to make a difference, not only to all of the trip participants, but to the community in which we will be working.
"This is a challenging task and we will need the support of the entire community.
"We will be carrying out a range of fundraising activities and we are seeking support from local businesses and groups."
Len Junier, partnership and development manager of PPDG, said: "The donation is allowing these young people to do something they would never be able to do otherwise.
"It will enable them to experience another culture and help people who are less fortunate than us."
