A CHEATING boyfriend attacked his partner during showdown talks about him sleeping with her sister.
The young mum was sent sprawling across her bedroom floor when Damian Gee punched her in the face.
Gee also armed himself with a knife and told the terrified woman: "I might as well just kill you."
The 34-year-old went to the victim's Middlesbrough home in the early hours of April 1 to discuss their future.
Teesside Crown Court heard today (Wednesday, June 26) that she had ended their relationship after discovering the affair.
Robert Mochrie, mitigating, said: "He was involved with two sisters, and it all came to a head that night."
Prosecutor Rachel Masters said Gee turned up uninvited at 3am and appeared to be high on drink or drugs.
Bizarrely, he suggested his partner was cheating on him and demanded to check her mobile phone.
He was said to have "just flipped" and "kicked off" before grabbing the knife from the kitchen and lashing out.
Gee, of Urswick Close, Middlesbrough, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and was jailed for five months.
Judge Howard Crowson also imposed a restraining order banning him from going near his ex.
He told Gee - who walked free after serving 13 weeks behind bars on remand: "This was serious. No-one should pretend otherwise."
Mr Mochrie said initial accusations of rape and false imprisonment - later dropped by the prosecution - had caused him trouble in jail.
"It is not over just because the prosecution decides to discontinue the case. It has tarnished his reputation in the community."
