THE work of some of the top children’s book illustrators is being showcased by the National Trust in North Yorkshire.
An exhibition at Nunnington Hall, near Helmsley is focusing on the whimsical and the nonsensical until September 7.
Images include work by four artists known for the bright, colourful and stylised worlds they create; Quentin Blake, Rebecca Cobb, Nick Butterworth and Gillian Tyler.
The exhibition has been provided by the Chris Beetles Gallery in London, which has been working with the hall for about ten years and has a wide variety of artists and photographers on their books.
The hall’s general manager Mollie Dodd said: “We love summer as we always host an exhibition for children and over the years we’ve had some really special ones.
“This particular collection of artists are fabulous and really appeal to children’s tastes. The exhibition is bright and colourful and we hope children will be inspired to get drawing themselves in our activities room and at home.”
Nunnington Hall is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm and Mondays in school holidays. For more information about visiting contact 01439-748283 or visit nationaltrust.org.uk/nunningtonhall
