A NORTH-East cemetery has become the first in the country to appoint an artist in residence.
The Woodland Burial Trust has appointed Ewan Anderson to the post at its facility off South Road, Durham City.
Mr Anderson is a renowned expert on tree drawing with pencil and his work is currently on display in the eco-friendly cemetery’s lodge.
The artist will visit Durham and give advice on drawing on Saturday, November 2.
He said: “The Durham woodland cemetery is a wonderful place that has a good selection of trees and is a peaceful place to learn to draw them.
“I’m really looking forward to passing on a few hints and tips on tree drawing and giving people the opportunity to experience such a beautiful and tranquil place.”
The event will take place from noon to 3pm. For more information, visit woodlandburialtrust.org.uk
