A DECISION on the future of a lap dancing club has been postponed.
Councillors were due to vote next week on an application by the Red Velvet club, in Consett, for a sexual entertainment venue license.
The premises was initially granted an alcohol and entertainment license to operate as a lap dancing club in 2007, but now needs to be re-licensed following a change in the law.
More than 400 people have signed a petition opposing the license and North-West Durham MP Pat Glass has also voiced concerns.
The application was expected to go before Durham County Council’s statutory licensing committee on February 28, but the decision has now been delayed and will be heard by councillors at a date yet to be fixed.
