A SHOP owner who criticised police for confiscating a 4ft statue of a willy says he has ordered more of the ornaments.
Police raided Jason Hadlow’s furniture store last week and seized the £200 handcarved sandstone statue.
Mr Hadlow, who owns Simply Dutch, in Leeming Bar, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, said: “The willy was from Indonesia, where they are very popular. People touch them for good luck and fertility.”
Mr Hadlow has been fined £80 by police.
He said: “If I pay the fine, then I am accepting liability and guilt. If I am prosecuted for displaying it, then surely my customers could be too.”
Mr Hadlow said he was expecting a further delivery of the ornaments in the coming weeks.
He said: “I have got a container of them coming in four weeks, which contains a minimum of 150 of the willies.
“We have sold about ten of them.”
A police spokesman said: “The amount of time officers spent dealing with this issue was appropriate following the complaint.”
A Free Willy campaign has been set up on the Facebook website, calling for the ornament’s release.
