Darlington have bolstered their squad by making a double signing in time for tomorrow's league curtain-raiser at Rushden and Diamonds.
After being on trial for the last few weeks Congolese forward Guylain Ndunbu-Nsungu and midfielder Nathan Jameson have both signed contracts and take the number of new players to the club this summer to eight.
Ndunbu-Nsungu was at Colchester, Preston and Sheffield Wednesday last season and the 22-year-old scored twice in Monday's behind closed doors win at Bradford, while Jameson, 20, has featured regularly in pre-season after being released by Walsall.
The duo are in the squad ahead of tomorrow's trip to Nene Park alongside former Middlesbrough youngster Anthony Peacock, Dutchman Shelton Martis and left-winger Carlo Logan.
Manager David Hodgson said: "These players have proven themselves worthy of a contract and I believe they will be hungry to make a mark on the squad and earn themselves a place in the team longer term.
"Anthony's signing is another product of our excellent relationship with the big North-East teams, joining a number of others on the squad who have played for Middlesbrough and Sunderland.
"Shelton has linked up well with Matt Clarke in the centre of defence and we are hopeful that he will be the type of player who can hold the top strikers.
"Guylain has already scored for us against Durham and Bradford and he will give us an extra option up front. Nathan gives us further depth in midfield and Logan has been impressive during our pre-season."
Jameson will wear the No. 19 shirt, Peacock 21, Logan 24 and Ndunbu-Nsungu 25.
Martis, who has been handed the No. 12 shirt, believes his move from FC Eindhoven presents an opportunity to go on and achieve bigger and better things.
The imposing 22-year-old Dutch defender is relishing the chance to further his career in England after joining the club on a free transfer and signing a six-month deal. He is included in the Quakers squad for tomorrow's League Two opener.
"I played well while I was here on trial and I'm happy that I've been given the chance to stay here longer," said Martis. "I love football and it wasn't a very difficult decision to move here.
"I think I have an opportunity to play at a higher level here than in Holland.
"A lot of people say that in England everything is kick and rush, but even at this level it is a very good standard."
Martis was on trial with Darlington last season, before returning to the Dutch First Division with FC Eindhoven. And, as one of eight new faces brought in by Hodgson during the summer, Martis believes his new club can mount a serious promotion bid.
"I watched Darlington against Rushden and Diamonds last season and I was very impressed with what I saw," said Martis.
"The manager has been very busy in the summer, and I think we have a very good chance of promotion."
And, in joining fellow Dutchman Clyde Wijnhard at the club, Martis is hopeful of making a swift adjustment to life in England.
"Clyde has already helped me settle in really well and has told me very good things about the club," he said. "He has been very successful in England and I hope to do just as well with Darlington."
* The new Darlington home shirt, priced £36 and £30 (child), goes on sale today from the club shop and season ticket holders will be able to collect their free shirt using the appropriate voucher included in the season ticket book.
The shop is open 9am-5pm, though the black away shirt is not expected to be available for another fortnight.
