A 90-YEAR-OLD woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a pedestrian scooter this afternoon.

The woman was struck by the vehicle in the foyer of the Collectables store, on Northumberland Street, in Newcastle, just after 5pm today.

The rider, who had left the scene before the emergency services arrived, may be unaware she had hit the pedestrian.

Meanwhile, the injured 90-year-old was taken to Newcastle General Hospital for treatment.
