A MONTH-LONG celebration of County Durham’s railway heritage was launched at the weekend.
Durham County Council’s Clayport Library hosted its third Railway Buffers event, with a display for all model train enthusiasts.
Shildon Model Railway Club showed its model railway layouts in the lending library at the weekend.
It is one of a number of events and activities taking place throughout the next month that will give people the chance to learn more about how the rail network helped to shape the county’s development and how it has changed over the decades.
The events will include displays, a railway walk, craft sessions, talks and a slide show.
Leaflets detailing the events are available at the Clayport.
They are all free, but people are advised to book for certain events.
