A Darlington business has received outdoor seating after seeing their application approved.

T.A.O Asian Street Food and Noodle Bar, located on Blackwellgate in Darlington, has confirmed it will be able to host customers outside from 12pm to 9pm this summer after its application was successful.

This comes after the restaurant appealed to the public for support in its application earlier this month.

They thanked their customers for their support, as well as neighbouring shops and Darlington Borough Council.

In a post online, they said: “Good news! We did it, we have received outdoor seating with our requested time of 12-9pm.

“Thank you so much for your unconditional support from all customers, neighbours shops and Darlington Council officers who are very helpful

“We are getting ready for Summer weather as soon as possible.”

Previously,  the business had said the business planned to use the seating to "make the town busier and look better."

They said: “We are currently applying for outdoor seating, we hope we can make the town get busier and look better, as well as get more support from customers to our small business.”

“However, we have met some difficulties with opening times with neighbours (which we can’t reach).

“They only agreed to us opening from 5.30pm to 9pm (when all the shops are closed)

“We plan to open from 12pm to 9pm when customers can come to town shop and dine.

Is there anyone/customers who can help us sign a consent letter, helping us to extend the opening times - it would be much appreciated.”
