RETROSPECTIVE plans to create two flats above a shop in Richmond Market Place have been submitted to North Yorkshire Council.

The permission is for a change of use of first and second floor ancillary retail space to two studio flats at 7 Market Place, Richmond.

The planning application constitutes minor internal alterations to convert first and second floor retail ancillary space.

The ground floor is currently a shop unit and will be retained as retail. The shop has a staff room with toilet facilities to the rear along with adequate back of house and storage space.

The first and second floors house ancillary space which can only be accessed by and external stair to the rear.

Both upper floors contain a large open plan room with windows to the front and a smaller separate room.

It is proposed to carry out minimal internal alterations to add a kitchenette to the larger open plan area along with a bathroom suite to the smaller rooms.

There is no external space to the property other than an alleyway to the rear. This area is hard paved and this is to be retained.

There are to be no alterations to the exterior appearance of the property.
