A couple are due to appear in court charged in relation to the death of a toddler.
Charlie Roberts died the day after an incident at his home at Frosterley Drive in Darlington on Friday, January 12, which left him critically injured.
Emergency services were called and the one-year-old was given medical treatment but he died at Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
Chris Stockton, 37, of Neasham Road, Darlington, and Paula Roberts, 40, of Frosterley Drive, Darlington, were arrested by police investigating Charlie’s death.
Both have been charged with child neglect and Stockton has also been charged with murder.
They are due at Peterlee Magistrates' Court this morning.
