It has been confirmed essential resurfacing works will be carried out on a County Durham road from this weekend.
Durham County Council have said the development on Framwellgate Peth and A690 Leazes Road will begin on Sunday (January 14) and finish on February 9.
The works will take place in phases over four weeks – with the first phase taking place from 8pm on January 14, to 5am on January 19.
This will see the A691 southbound closed between Diamond Terrace and Milburngate Roundabout, while traffic at the A691 northbound will operate as normal.
The second round of works will take place from 8pm on January 21, to 5am on January 26.
During this time, the A691 northbound will be closed between Milburngate roundabout and Diamond Terrace.
Access to Highgate will be by a diversion, while traffic at the A691 southbound will operate as normal.
The third week will see works between 8pm on January 28, to 5am on February 2.
The A691 northbound will be closed between Milburngate roundabout and Diamond Terrace on January 28 and 29, while southbound traffic will operate as normal.
The A691 southbound will be closed between Diamond Terrace and Milburngate roundabout on January 30 and 31, and February 1, while northbound traffic will operate as normal.
The final week of resurfacing will take place between 11pm on February 4, to 5am on February 9.

The A690 Leazes Road/Milburngate roundabout will operate under three-way temporary traffic lights, with the A691 southbound closed between Diamond Terrace and Milburngate roundabout to resurface a section of the A690. add road markings, and traffic light sensors on the A691.
The A691 northbound traffic will operate as normal.
The council confirmed all traffic management will be put up and removed at the start and finish of each night.
