A man in his 40s was found dead on a North East street this morning after police were made aware of a welfare concern.
A cordon in Byker area of Newcastle was soon erected and police could be seen in the area.
Police confirmed that at around 8.05am this morning, police received reports of a welfare concern on Ayton Street.
Emergency services attended the scene and found a man in his 40s who had sadly died.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
“An investigation was launched into the man’s death, which police are currently treating as unexplained.
“Enquiries are ongoing."
