Police have confirmed that a man was found dead on a County Durham street last night.
Police responded to concerns for a man's welfare on Main Street in Shildon, County Durham, at around 6pm last night.
A cordon was erected last night near Shildon Express, with police guarding the scene overnight, but sadly, a man in his 60s was confirmed dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, two police vans were in attendance.
A force spokesperson said: "Officers were called shortly before 6pm last night (November 15) following concerns for the welfare of a man on Main Street, Shildon.
"Police and ambulance attended the scene but sadly, the man in his 60s was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
"It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances, and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

An eye witness, who did not wish to be named, told The Northern Echo: "Police have taped off the area. It's down a very narrow lane.
"There are two police vans with officers just guarding the scene at the moment.
"It's right outside the Shildon Express. It's literally at the back of the town police station."
