A man was taken to hospital following a 'medical incident' on a North East road last weekend.
A motorist was taken to hospital after falling ill at the wheel while driving on the A1 in Gateshead at about 10.30am on Saturday (November 11).
Northumbria Police recovered the vehicle from the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 10.30am on Saturday, police received a report a driver had become unwell at the wheel, while driving on the A1 at J67 Kingsway.

“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital for treatment and his vehicle was recovered from the scene.”
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 10.20am this morning to reports of a person unwell on the A1 near Team Valley Gateshead.
"We sent one emergency ambulance crew and took one patient to Queen Elizabeth hospital in Gateshead."
