A road has been closed by police near a North East city centre following a collision.
Emergency services remain at the scene of the accident on the A1231 Park Road, in Sunderland, which was closed to motorists this afternoon (October 19) following a crash.
Traffic has continued to build on the road that provides access to Sunderland City Centre following the incident.

Northumbria Police issued a statement following the incident.
A spokesperson said: "At 2.30pm today (Thursday), we received a report of a road traffic collision on Park Road in Sunderland.
"Emergency services are currently at the scene and a section of the road is closed in both directions."
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed they attended the scene, adding: "We were called to a road traffic incident at the junction of Burdon Road and Park Road, Sunderland at 2.30 this afternoon.
"We dispatched two double crewed ambulances, a specialist paramedic and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance."
AA Traffic Maps first reported the crash after 2pm. A statement read: "Road blocked and heavy traffic due to crash on A1231 Park Road both ways at The Church."
The road is currently still closed.
