A North East city is currently outselling almost every other location in Europe during late autumn and winter months for hen parties.
Newcastle is now outselling York as the party destination for stags and hens, but the Yorkshire city also ranks highly itself.
According to data supplied by Last Night of Freedom, a Tyneside-based party organizer, the all-year-round boom is due to York’s reputation as a party paradise.
Last Night of Freedom’s Managing Director, Matt Mavir, stated that “Hens simply can’t get enough of York, it has become the ultimate hen party do destination.”

York is currently outpacing traditionally popular city-break destinations, such as Prague, Krakow, and Amsterdam.
Only Liverpool and Newcastle are currently outdoing York’s hen party sales for the coming winter period, a situation Mr Mavir says was “once unthinkable”.
Before the pandemic, Dublin reportedly outsold York by almost five-to-one during the winter months, but this year York has overtaken the Irish capital due to its off-the-chart buzz and the fact that the city has a “fairytale feel” when snow falls.
Mr Mavir added: “The Shambles is fantastic whatever the month, while the Christmas markets are also a huge pull for hens later in the year. When the snow falls, the city has a fairytale feel.”

This boom for York comes amid a battle between party organizers and politicians on whether to curb York’s growth as a popular stag and hen party destination.
York’s MP Rachael Maskell and other politicians are advocating that York keep party-goers separate from locals, with revellers confined to “party zones”.

However, this doesn’t seem to have dampened the spirits of hen parties eager to visit York during the colder months.
