The crash, which occurred just outside of Aldi on Darlington Lane, closed the road for a significant time to allow specialist collision investigators to work at the scene and establish the circumstances of the crash.
The public was asked to refrain from attending the scene of the incident after police had to close Aldi's carpark to visitors who wanted to see the crash.
Reports indicate that the road has now reopened.
