The sun shone as crowds danced the night away to some of Europe’s finest pop acts on Saturday night.
People flocked to Darlington town centre to watch the Eurovision Song Contest party with live music throughout the day.
With many draped in Union flags, as well as showing support of the last year’s winners, Ukraine, the celebration went on in the night.
The event itself was taking place in Liverpool where Swedish entry Loreen scooped the prize with her entry Tattoo.
Darlington has hoped to be in the running to host the event, the first to be held in the UK in 25 years.
In the end it went to the home of The Beatles, The La’s and former Eurovision entrant, Sonia.
The all-day long schedule of family-friendly events in Market Square was hosted by Darlington Borough Council and included kids’ activities and food and drinks stalls.
A spokesperson for the authority said: “We’ve had great fun celebrating all things Eurovision.”
The town’s MP Peter Gibson, who attended, said: “Darlington Borough Council have been incredible in putting this together amongst many other events.”
