A serious collision in Ferryhill saw three people rushed to hospital and the air ambulance mobilised following a serious collision on a County Durham road.
Around 4 pm today (Friday, May 12), it is believed that a black SUV and a lorry collided whilst travelling through Ferryhill on the A167.
Three individuals were taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, two by road and one by air, following the crash.
A 400 m stretch of the A167 has been closed from Dean Road in Ferryhill, to allow officers Accident Investigation Officers to inspect the scene of the collision. Bothe vehicles currently remain on the road.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic collision on Darlington Road in Ferryhill at 4.10 pm this afternoon.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews, two crews from our Hazardous Area Response Team and a clinical team leader, and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance Service.
"Three patients were taken to James Cook Hospital for further treatment, two by road and one by air."
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Due to an RTC, Darlington Rd (A167), Ferryhill is currently closed. Alternate Route is via Dean Rd / Broom Rd / Market Place."
