Barclays has announced that another North East bank branch will close in the coming months, following a spate of closures which say Saltburn lose their branch. 

The Yarm branch is set to close on Friday, July 14, after analysis by Barclays head office established that only 27 customers regularly use the branch.

Barclays banking services will still be available to Yarm customers -  with Barclays promising that they are "finalising details" about the next iteration that Barclays will take in the town. 

A spokesperson for the bank said: "We want to reassure you that we’ll stay in your community and you’ll be able to talk to us in person.

"We’re finalising the details of where we’ll be based, and when, to support you with your banking, and we'll share the details locally once confirmed.

"We’ll be available to help you with things like day-to-day banking queries and helping you manage your money, though there won’t be access to cash at this site. 

"In the meantime, we’ll be here in person until this branch closes, to answer any questions you have and help you with the move from using this branch to alternative ways to bank."

The bank's decision to shut its Yarm site comes as all major banks are reassessing the need for in-person banking.

Analysis done by Barclays shod that only 27 customers use the branch regularly, as the only way to do their banking. They also discovered that 87 per cent of the people who use the bank have done their baking via the app, the web and by phone.
