It’s set to be a cold and cloudy day across the region on Sunday (March 5) as the weekend draws to a close before weather warnings come into force for the start of the week.
Forecasters are predicting a day of cloud on Sunday with a few light showers possible in some parts of the North East.
Met Office forecasters have said some brighter spells may develop into the afternoon.

The chilly weather on Sunday will prepare us for a cold snap on Monday and Tuesday after yellow weather warnings were issued for snow and ice.
Warnings are in place for the entire east coast from Whitby to the Scottish Highlands, including Teesside, County Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.
The warning comes into force at midnight tonight and lasts until the end of Tuesday with frequent snow showers expected and disruption likely.

What will the weather be like into next week?
On Monday the Met Office has said to expect a dand of showery rain moveing south across the area during the morning, turning wintry over hills.

Sunny spells and snow showers will develop towards midday and it will feel cold and breezy. Maximum temperatures of 5C.
As the week moves on it will be very cold throughout with sunny spells and snow showers, more frequent towards the coast.
Snow showers are most likely on Tuesday then likelihood gradually decreasing. Severe frosts expected overnight.
