A community centre in the North East has been left damaged after offenders broke in on three separate occasions to vandalise the site.

The incidents happened on Monday, February 6, February 10 and Friday, February 17 at Birtley Community Centre, on Ravensworth Road.

Offenders broke into the site and caused significant damage to the building.

This included locks being cut, shutters being removed and windows, furniture, toilets and doors damaged.

A full investigation is being carried out by Northumbria Police and officers have warned anybody found responsible will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “Anyone with information regarding the incidents should contact Northumbria Police either via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of their website, or by calling 101 and quoting either 016445T/23, 019721E/23 or 022028B/23.”
