Darlington-born TV chef Ruth Hansom is coming back to the North East for a six-month residency at the Swinton Estate at Masham.
Ruth will be working at the historic Samuel’s Restaurant at Swinton Park, launching her first Signature Menu on Saturday April 1
Ruth trained at Westminster College, followed by a three year apprenticeship at the Ritz under John Williams MBE.

Both a finalist in the Roux Scholarship and winner of a Caterer Acorn Award in 2022, Ruth is also now a familiar face on the small screen as a finalist on the Great British Menu and regular appearances on James Martin’s Saturday and Saturday Kitchen.
Ruth said ‘Swinton is a fabulous environment, aligned very closely to my love of cooking with seasonal, local and regional produce. I’m particularly looking forward to developing a signature menu, encapsulating the flavours of produce from across the Estate’.

She will also be establishing some new positions in the kitchen to work alongside the existing team, and will be planning the redesign and build of the new Samuel’s kitchen later this year.
