Police have confirmed that a man was tragically found dead at a property in Houghton-le-Spring on Friday (January 6).
Emergency services attended a houses in Penshaw, Houghton-le-Spring at around 9am following concerns for the welfare of a man on Kingswood.
Police officers and paramedics were seen in the area by local residents.

On Friday afternoon, Northumbria Police confirmed that officers found a man dead at the property.
A spokesperson for the police force said: "Officers responded to concerns for the welfare of a man on Kingswood at around 9am, but discovered the man was deceased when they arrived.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this extremely difficult time.
“There is believed to be no third-party involvement and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
No cause of death has yet been confirmed.
