A HORSE stuck in mud in County Durham has been rescued.
A horse stuck in a muddy field in Gainford has been rescued by crews from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue.
The emergency services were also joined by a specialist animal rescue team from Bishop Auckland.
Along with farm staff, they worked together to pull the horse safely out of the mud where it lay.
The fire and rescue service said: "Luckily the crews, the farm staff and the local vet all worked together and were able to get the horse back on its hooves and once checked over, it was able to re-join its pals in the field.
"Great result all round."
