THE body of a man was found in a County Durham street on Wednesday morning, police have confirmed.
Durham police say calls were received at around 8am following the discovery in Marlborough, Seaham.
Emergency services attended the scene, which was cordoned off whilst a forensic investigation was carried out.
A spokesman for the force said the death was being treated as unexplained.
Police said in a statement: "Police were called shortly after 8am today (Wednesday) to Marlborough, in Seaham, following the discovery of a man’s body.
"Officers are currently treating his death as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone with any information that could help the investigation should call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 60 of July 1."
