AN investigation is underway after a man died following an incident in Stockton.

Detectives from Cleveland Police are appealing to the public for information after the 42-year-old died this morning following an incident at a property on Smith Street, in Stockton.

Officers were alerted by colleagues from University Hospital of North Tees to a man who had suffered serious injuries.

He had been found injured outside of a property on Smith Street at 10.45pm on Friday, April 3 and died in hospital in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, April 5.

Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances of how the man suffered these injuries.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for anyone with information regarding the incident, or for any key workers or members of the public who were out for essential travel in this area and time to please come forward with information.

"Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this difficult time."
