The scene of the van fire on Tuesday evening
A DRIVER has escaped uninjured after a van fire on the A68.
The engine of the vehicle caught fire at around 5pm as the driver was in Toft Hill, near Bishop Auckland.
Emergency services were called and police closed the road while firefighters tackle the blaze.
No-one was injured but the incident did cause delays for drivers.
It happened near the junction with Toft Hill Lane.
